About the Doctor

Dr. KamelAs a younger man, Dr. Kamel developed a personal interest in medicine desiring to help family members dealing with complications of Type 1 Diabetes.  Later in medical school, the study of hormone links and their complicated interaction drew him to a deeper study and passion for endocrinology. 
In private practice since 2003, Dr. Kamel is Florida Licensed and Board Certified by the American Board of Medical Specialties for exceptional expertise in the fields of Endocrinology, Diabetes, Metabolism and Internal Medicine.  He is married with three children and enjoys soccer, chess, and travel.

ON-SITE DIAGNOSTICS and RESEARCH

Dr. Kamel is skilled in sonography of the neck, and in biopsies of the thyroid, parathyroid, and lymph nodes.  We offer the added convenience, control, and quick results of in-house lab services, ultrasound, and x-ray.  Our practice is also obtaining a license to administer radioactive iodine diagnostics and uptake studies on site.  Our lab is fully accredited by COLA, compliant with CLIA standards, and recognized by the Joint Commission on Accreditation of Healthcare Organizations (JCAHO).

PERSONAL CARE

Dr. Kamel has developed solid working relationships with area hospitals and physicians to communicate and coordinate with your primary care physician, or doctors who may be treating you for other conditions.  And if you are admitted to the hospital, Dr. Kamel will personally see you, so you’re assured of receiving care from one who is familiar with your medical history and treatment.  He holds admitting privileges to Gulf Coast Medical Center, Bay Medical Center, and Select Specialty Hospital.

HEALTH EDUCATION

The Diabetes, Thyroid, Endocrine Clinic conducts health education classes for groups and individuals so our patients are well-informed and equipped to use the variety of treatment methods and therapeutic tools like nutrition plans, insulin pumps, insulin pens, and continuous glucose monitors. 

CONVENIENCE

It is easy to make an appointment at the Diabetes, Thyroid, Endocrine Clinic and you don’t have to wait several weeks to see the doctor.  Our offices are conveniently located in Panama City, opening at 7:30AM for lab appointments and from 8:30AM to 5:30PM, Monday-Friday, and in Destin, Monday and Friday  8 am to 7 pm, Tue-Thurs 8:30 to 4:30 and Sat 1 to 5 for patient visits.  Dr. Kamel is also on call for emergencies 24-hours a day, 7 days a week.

We accept all insurance plans, even self-pay, and will bill the insurance company on your behalf.
